Domain naming master is a forest-wide operations master role. It is required to keep track of all the domains within an Active Directory forest. The domain controller with the domain naming master role is accessed whenever domains are added to or removed from a tree or forest. There can be only one domain naming master per forest. The domain naming master ensures that no two domains having the same name exist in the same tree.
